Under the label "E-E films" we (Evgenij Kozlov & Hannelore Fobo) produce films about the works of Evgenij Kozlov, and we have also begun publishing our video archive.

art films:
The compositional complexity of Evgenij Kozlov's artwork inspired us to interrelate single elements of one or several works into sequences of chronological order. They reveal the uncommon narrative structures of his art. The melodic theme of a new image is brought to life with a carefully selected musical composition, or with a musical setting composed for a specific image.

video archive:
As a prominent member of the most important Russian avant-garde group of the 1980s «Новые художники» / "New Artists" , Evgenij Kozlov had an intimate knowledge of the artistic territory of his hometown Leningrad / St. Petersburg. Keeping a perspective from within, this territory is in the focus of his videos from the early 1990s. As we now look at these artistic documents almost two decades later, we are captivated by the spontaneous and creative ambience of this period, which vibrates in us when we join its rhythm, sound and harmony.

Alexander Titov about Aquarium, Kino and Pop Mekhanika

An interview with Hannelore Fobo. London, 12 December 2018

In the 1980s, bassist Alexander Titov was at the epicentre of the Soviet rock scene: he has played with Boris Grebenshikov's band "Aquarium" since 1983, was bassist with "KINO" from 1984 to 1986, but also performed with Sergey Kuryokhin's "Pop Mekhanika".

In the interview with Hannelore Fobo, Alexander Titov talks about those magical years and why he thinks that Kirill Serebrennikov's movie "Leto" does not represent this period.
